Electronics Manufacturing Services
Profab Electronics employs a comprehensive printed circuit board assembly process that transforms raw materials into finished electronic assemblies through carefully controlled manufacturing stages. Our systematic approach ensures consistent quality from initial design review through final inspection and delivery.
INTRODUCTION
A Systematic Approach to Electronics Manufacturing Excellence
The manufacturing process for electronic assemblies represents a carefully orchestrated sequence of operations that transforms bare circuit boards and discrete components into functional electronic products. Each stage builds upon the previous one, with quality and precision at every step determining the ultimate reliability of the finished assembly.
At Profab Electronics, our printed circuit board assembly process has been refined through decades of experience serving demanding industries including aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial markets. Our process incorporates multiple verification points ensuring quality is built into assemblies rather than merely inspected at the end, producing consistent results regardless of product complexity or production volume.

Our systematic manufacturing process produces consistent results across production runs, shifts, and time periods. Customers receive the same high quality whether ordering prototypes or production volumes.
Efficient Problem Resolution
When issues arise, our process documentation and traceability enable rapid identification of root causes and implementation of effective corrective actions. Problems are resolved quickly and prevented from recurring.
Regulatory Compliance Support
Our manufacturing process generates the documentation and maintains the traceability that regulated industries require. Customers in aerospace, defense, and medical markets benefit from processes designed for their compliance needs.
PROCESS
The Profab Manufacturing Process Flow
The manufacturing process at Profab Electronics follows a structured flow that ensures quality and efficiency throughout production. Each stage builds upon the previous one, with verification activities confirming successful completion before proceeding.
Front-End Engineering: New assemblies begin with comprehensive review of design data, including design-for-manufacturability analysis that identifies any potential issues. Manufacturing documentation is developed including assembly drawings, work instructions, and inspection criteria. Process parameters are established including solder paste stencil specifications, placement programs, and reflow profiles optimized for each assembly.
Materials Preparation: Components and PCBs are received, inspected, and staged for production. Solder paste is prepared and verified within specification. All materials are confirmed available and ready before production begins.
SMT Assembly: Solder paste is applied using precision stencil printing with automated inspection verifying deposit quality. Components are placed by high-speed pick-and-place equipment with placement accuracy verified. Assemblies proceed through reflow soldering in controlled atmosphere ovens with optimized thermal profiles.
Through-Hole Assembly: Assemblies requiring through-hole components proceed to appropriate processes—selective soldering for mixed-technology boards, wave soldering for through-hole dominant assemblies, or hand soldering for specialized requirements.
Inspection and Testing: Completed assemblies undergo appropriate inspection including automated optical inspection, X-ray examination of hidden joints, and electrical testing. Only assemblies passing all verifications proceed to subsequent operations.
Post-Assembly Operations: Additional operations including cleaning, conformal coating, mechanical assembly, and programming are performed as required. Final inspection confirms all requirements are met before packaging and shipment.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
Profab Electronics' Commitment to Quality
Quality at Profab Electronics is not an inspection activity performed at process end—it is a fundamental characteristic built into every manufacturing process step. Our manufacturing process has been designed with quality as a primary consideration, incorporating controls, verifications, and documentation that ensure consistent excellence throughout production.
Our quality management system, certified to ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards, defines the processes, controls, and responsibilities that govern manufacturing operations. These systems ensure that processes are performed consistently, that results are verified at appropriate stages, and that documentation supports traceability and compliance requirements. Regular audits verify system effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
The manufacturing process generates comprehensive documentation that supports quality management throughout the product lifecycle. Traceability records link each assembly to its components, process parameters, and inspection results. This documentation supports warranty administration, regulatory compliance, and field issue investigation. Our commitment to quality encompasses not only the assemblies we produce but the information that accompanies them.
